There’s no denying that Steven has been very influential on up and coming developers and even Apple developer alike, but it must be shown what he has done and what he has put forth to make such marvelous things, such as Stacks and Orbit. He’s truly showing how Apple could’ve implemented these things into the iPhone and/or iPod. It goes against saying that these things aren’t useful to an everyday user. They have changed the way numerous people have used their devices, and it won’t be any struggle for me to discuss them here with you.
With Steven working hard each day to make sure we can utilize these things, it makes it all the more worthwhile to see him release them. He has recently released Orbit, which can be bought on the Cydia Store for $1.99, which introduces Spaces to the iPhone. It is called Springboard Exposé, but, in my opinion, it’s Spaces. The app shows one a simple idea, can go from a simple proof of concept, to be a full fledged app. It works wonderfully with no flaws or errors – a perfect creation.
Something from a long time ago, but still just as great as it was, is Stacks. We all know Stacks as a way to see what files are in a certain folder, before we open it. Exactly like on OSX, this does the same, but with apps. It allows quick management of your apps, and easy access if placed in your dock. You have an icon on your dock, you click it, and you see an array of apps that you’ve assigned to go there. He has even implemented a way for you to change the stacks name, scroll through it so you don’t need multiple stacks anymore and ways for you customize it.
Steve has shown numerous times that he can and will make the iPhone better than people perceive it to be (cough DROID cough). With new work coming out for a multitasking app in the future, there is no doubt that Steven is one of the top 10 iPhone developing geniuses. As we wait for this, I suggest you either Donate for Stacks or go to Cydia and get on some of this Orbit action.
